I had purchased new screen protectors for our Apple Watches. I don’t think I had ever used the small wet and dry wipes they provided, but this time due to a severely cracked screen cover, I did. I was amazed at how small they were at approximately an inch square. I wondered briefly how much time it would take to make, fold, and package each individual wipe.

For something as big as a spilled drink or even my iPhone screen, these wipes would never suffice. Yet it was exactly the size I needed for my watch screen.

Ever since I had risen from my bed that morning, the song had been tumbling through my mind about how nobody loves me like Jesus. It speaks of standing in awe at his amazing ways, except that morning when I was singing it, it came out as “I stand in awe at your amazing grace.” And as I stood in the kitchen replacing my screen cover, this small one inch wipe made me think of his grace.

Grace comes in all sizes. It comes in the smallest of packages when all we need is a minute amount, it comes in medium size packages to face the day ahead, and it comes in very large packages when we face the deepest trials and heartaches.

I get a visual of all this prepared grace, sitting up in Heaven in gift boxes, ready and waiting to be sent our way. As one angel gets one box, Jesus calls to him softly, “Actually get the other! She’s going to need a whole load of it for this.”

I’m amazed to think today how He knows exactly how much grace we will need. Just like this manufacturer knew I would only need a one-inch square for my watch, God knows the exact size too. Just like the manna He prepared for the Israelites, He gives just enough for today and how amazing is that?

And what if on the days we’re feeling strong we would ask God to give a friend our grace for the day? It would be a little like taking their burden on our shoulders for a while and carrying it. “Are you sure about this my child?” He asks softly.

“Yes, Father. Please give them mine today.” He smiles and nods and somehow even though we may feel the weight of their burden, our hearts feel light knowing the one tiny square that should’ve only been enough for a small Apple Watch screen will carry us through.
